This painting was inspired because of my love for the Kalahari. This specific scene is from the Namib Rand reserve in Namibia. I fell in love with the contrast created between the red sand and the blue sky and mountains. The Umbrella Thorn tree  (Acacia tortilis) in the foreground leading your eye to the open veld it surrounds. You only find these kind of scenes in Africa, that is why this artwork is so special to me as it is authentic and originally me. - Jadri Barnard
